Description
This is The Funk Project.
We are not trying to be a band, but rather a community of musicians dedicated the preservation of the motion of hips, aka Funk and the Power of the One. The mold set by James Brown and PFunk.
Rather than the traditional route of getting a set group of musicians, doing covers or originals, and booking in traditional venues, we will be creating or joining events to perform, mostly parties and festivals. The best way to describe this would be a Jam Band if Jam Bands were based on Parliament/Funkadelic instead of the Dead and the ABB.
We have a core rhythm section of bass, guitar, drums and keys. So far, this consists of myself on lead guitar and my best bud on bass. While I am still seeking a drummer, the drummer in my own band is available and interested. I have a keyboardist who wants to join up, but I have not played with him yet. He will be there for the next session.
Beyond the core, we want to attract as many singers and instrumental soloists and singers, horn players, percussionists as possible. Rappers are welcome, but they have be about fun. This is party music, not hood music; Digital Underground, not NWA. Performance artists and dancers, too. Jazz musicians are welcome, we will most definitely be expanding into Avant-garde terriority.
We want to hear from promoters, both mainstream and underground. We want to hear from producers who want the REAL funk on their records. We want to hear from other musicians who need good funk sidemen for their projects.
This is community. This is funk central. This is The Funk Project. Doing it to you in the ear-hole. Ya dig? Let me put my sunglasses on. That's the rule around her, you got to have your sunglasses on, so you
