Heavy music scene?

So it seems that a lot of musicians are looking to move to Austin and I might be one of them. My primary style of music that I play is metal (groove, death, core, prog, etc) and hard rock. How is the metal and hard rock scene there in Austin? Lots of serious musicians (not hobbyists) there into those styles? Lots of places to play? I'm just trying to get a feel for how the city is before I pack up and move there, so if anybody can give me any information that would be awesome. Thanks!
