Whether you’re a cocktail-crafting novice or want to re-familiarize yourself with the fundamentals, this class is for you! One part mixology, one part storytelling, the first class in our series will teach you everything you need to know about foundation cocktails. You’ll learn about the journey behind some of your favorite recipes while getting hands-on experience making four impeccable drinks: Bourbon Old-Fashioned, a Classic Martini, Rum Punch, and Margarita. The 90-minute workshop will cover: Ingredients: How to source and choose quality ingredients regardless of your budgetConcepts and Techniques: Order matters! How to shake, how to stir, the nuances of ice, and how to troubleshootRecipes: You’ll learn (and take home) classic cocktail recipes with ideas how to add your own personalityMixers, garnishes, and glasswareLocal Distilleries: How to support Hudson Valley makersThe workshop takes place at Jazz Forum Arts at 1 Dixon Lane in Tarrytown from 7-8:30 PM. All levels ages 21+ are welcome! Everyone will get a chance to make and sample four drinks, then go home with recipe cards for each cocktail. Light snacks will be served to soak up all the fun. Covid Protocols: Proof of vaccination is required for this event and masking is encouraged. Space is limited to 20 guests. About the Instructor: Edward Gibbons-Brown has spent a decade in the hospitality industry, much of it behind Hudson Valley bars with a focus on craft cocktails. An irrepressible nerd with a background in the creative arts, Edward is enthusiastic about communicating the art, science, and history that goes into your glass whenever you have a truly unforgettable cocktail. His experience includes Head Bartender and Beverage Director positions, and he has developed numerous cocktail menus over the years. He has also been recognized as a Top 5 National Finalist in the 2018 Marie Brizard Toast to Her Story competition at Tales of the Cocktail, a Regional Finalist in Woodford Reserve’s 2020 Manhattan Experience, and a 2018 “Best Martini” Nominee for Hudson Valley Magazine.
