Join us... Many of you have probably heard me say "why save champagne for celebrating". To drink such an amazing category of wine only on special occasions seems like such a waste. However, this is the time of year where we are all doing a lot of celebrating. So, whether you think like me or prefer to reserve your bubbles only for a festive occasion, right now we all have plenty of reason to pop the cork and get our favorite fizzy wine flowing. If you've come to the shop and talked about champagne with me, it will come as no shock to you that I get very excited about the category known as "grower-producer" champagne. Not only is there an elevated focus on the wine from the day the vines are planted to the day it's finished, but there is also something satisfying about paying for the quality of the juice in the bottle and not for the name on the label. To top it all off, while the big champagne houses are pioneering a huge jump in prices for the champagne industry, the small guys are still getting people their excellent wines for accessible dollar amounts. In Indiana most of our wine distributors have some form of grower-producer champagne in their portfolios. However, one in particular made their name in this category and knows it better than anyone, Skurnick. So come learn from the experts and taste some fantastic champagne while doing it!
