Description

Help us create pompom art! Join the Women's Museum and artist Katie Ruiz in creating an empowering community art installation. The pompom project is based on the belief that art is better with community. Artworks are made with many small pompoms to create larger artworks that transcend When we come together to do our part. Attend one of our in-person pompom parties throughout January 2022 to create, connect, and support this community project. All pompoms will be strung together in the shape of a woman's symbol that will be hung outside the WMC Education Center to celebrate Women's History Month, March 2022. About the Artist: Katie Ruiz (http://www.katieruizart.com/) is a Xicana artist who resides in San Diego, CA. She was raised in Los Angeles and Northern Arizona. Ruiz has a strong connection with nature and often uses natural objects like rocks, shells, leaves and sticks in her weavings and Sculptures.
