Please note there is a 2 drink minimum per guest (alcohol or non-alcohol) Delphine Cortez began her career singing in top jazz clubs on Rush Street in Chicago, and has been one of the most in-demand vocalists in the southwest since her arrival in the Greater Phoenix market in the mid-80s. Delphine has enjoyed many long engagements at venues including The Boojum Tree, Timothys, Eddie Matneys and Remingtons, as well as appearances in numerous concerts and festivals. She is a charter member of the Divas Show, which has appeared annually at The Kerr Cultural Center in Scottsdale since 2001. While clearly having her own style, Delphine carries on the tradition of the great ladies of jazz, such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and her musical idol, Nancy Wilson. She performs with uniquely captivating style, grace and creativity. Her scat chops and ability to interpret and compose lyrics on the fly is truly remarkable. International jazz journalist Patricia Myers has said of Delphine: Delphine Cortez literally takes possession of each song so firmly that one does not think of comparing Delphines style to anyone elses Delphine sings as only Delphine can. Her voice evokes warmth and passion with remarkable depth and range.� Delphine is equally comfortable in an intimate performance setting or on the stage of a major venue. Her repertoire is vast and her spontaneity enables her to read audiences and choose songs in real time. Delphines repertoire includes scores of standards from The Great American Songbook by the likes of the Gershwins, Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, bossa novas, plus her unique renditions of classic and current pop tunes associated with diverse artists such as Bobby Gentry, Dusty Springfield, Van Morrison, The Beatles, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Michael Franks, Corrine Bailey Rae and Spencer Day.
