Description

ABANDONED MINE LANDS - BUILDING TRUST & TAKING ACTION The Mining and Metallurgical Society of America (MMSA), in partnership with Trout Unlimited (TU); Colorado School of Mines; University of Nevada Reno, College of Science; and others presents the 4th Annual Summit: Building Trust & Taking Action. This Summit is the fourth in a series of public forums convened by MMSA and its growing coalition of partners to bring stakeholders with a vested interest in improving landscapes impacted by Abandoned Mine Lands together. Status updates of the ongoing Good Samaritan legislative and administrative efforts will be provided and opportunities for more collaboration will be discussed. Building on the lessons learned from previous Summits, delegates will continue to share their work experiences from the field, and explore the best paths forward to ensure that legacy mine lands in the West are improved to the benefit of wildlife and communities. For more information about participation in the 2022 Summit contact Judy Colgan, Executive Director, MMSA at [email protected] or 720-203-2380. Watch the MMSA Web page (http://www.mmsa.net) for updates and summary reports from the previous Summits. Hotel reservations can be made at the XY Hotel by calling 111-222-3333. The Mining and Metallurgical Society of America (“MMSA”) is a professional organization composed of senior-level mining professionals dedicated to increasing public awareness and understanding about mining and why mined materials are essential to modern society and human well being. Our members are mining engineers, metallurgists, geologists, and other professionals who work in the mining industry in all parts of the United States. MMSA has been an advisor to Congress, was instrumental in the establishment of the former U.S. Bureau of Mines, and continues support for reasonable mining regulation. Our 112 year-old organization is dedicated to promoting and improving understanding and appreciation of the role of the U.S. mining industry.
