In April 2021, the Florida Department of Transportation and Palm Beach County filed an application (Permit Number SAJ-2015-01094 SP-RLT) with the Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) seeking a permit authorizing a road construction project known as the State Road 7 (SR 7) Extension.
This project includes the widening of the southern segment of SR 7 from Okeechobee Boulevard to 60th Street North to four lanes and constructing a new four-lane divided roadway from 60th Street along the south side of the M-Canal to one-mile south of Northlake Boulevard and widening the existing one-mile section of SR 7 from 2 to 4 lanes up to Northlake Boulevard. A portion of the proposed construction is immediately adjacent to Grassy Waters Preserve, the City of West Palm Beach's main water supply.
The Corps is accepting public comment regarding the SR 7 Extension. If you oppose the SR 7 Extension, I strongly urge you to submit your comment for inclusion in the review process.
