SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott is bringing back a program that allows seniors and veterans to gain property tax relief through volunteer work with town services.
Seniors age 60 or older and veterans, who own and occupy their own homes, are eligible to assist with year-round or special projects within the town for up to $1,000 in relief from their property tax bill.
Volunteers are paired with departments and provide services ranging from clerical support, serving meals at the Senior Center, gardening, general labor, light outdoor work, supporting recreation programs and being library aides.
Applicants are encouraged to apply by Dec. 31 with spaces limited.
