LAKELAND, FL — Three million dollars donated to housing and shelter programs by Publix Super Markets Charities (PSMC) will support 121 Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the Southeast, a news release said.
The donation also includes funding for six houses at six affiliates. Funding will also be given to 104 nonprofit organizations that provide housing and shelter services.
"There are far too many individuals and families in our communities without roofs over their heads. We're committed to helping them find the support they need to one day achieve the stability and independence that comes from having a place to call their own," PSMC Executive Director Kelly Williams-Puccio said. "We're honored to continue our support of organizations focused on housing and the well-being of our communities."
Lakeland Habitat for Humanity CEO Claire Twomey said they are incredibly grateful for PSMC's support of the organization.
"Over the last couple of years, the lack of access to affordable housing has intensified due to the pandemic," Twomey said. "But with Publix Charities' generosity, we're able to provide solid foundations for families through homeownership."
PSMC began its support of Habitat for Humanity affiliates more than 30 years ago with its first contribution to Habitat for Humanity in Winter Haven. To learn more about PSMC's efforts, please visit publixcharities.org/hope.
