NORTHPORT, NY — Rudy, Lovebug and Star, who are 14-week-old tuxedo siblings, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week. Rudy, the baby sister of the trio, is the tiniest of the group, but she doesn't know that, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. "She is so playful and can keep up with the roughhousing antics of her brothers any day of the week," Wild stated in an email. Rudy was named after the character from the movie "Rudy," because although she was small and faced some obstacles, she was mighty and her size never slowed her down, according to Wild. She is also very affectionate, as she curls up in her foster mother's arms for snuggles. She has a tiny freckle over her lip and tends to melt the heart of anyone when she looks into their eyes. Rudy (Courtesy of Northport Cat Rescue Association) Lovebug, a boy, is the most affectionate of the trio, according to Wild. He likes to climb up chairs and couches where people are sitting and snuggle in their laps while purring. "From observation, Lovebug is definitely the big brother of the group with his protective and loving personality," Wild said. Lovebug is bonded to his brother, Star, who was the shyest of the group. However, he is beginning to trust his foster family almost as much as his siblings. "It has been a beautiful thing to watch Star come out of his shell and ask for affection," Wild said. "Although it would be a Christmas miracle for all three to be adopted together, it is clear that the boys must stay together because Star really looks to Lovebug for reassurance." All three love to play hard and then nap hard, too, according to Wild. "This is a very special bunch," she said. "They are all very loving and absolutely adorable too. We hope to have them adopted straight from their foster home so that they never know the feeling of going into a cage, and of course, to be home for the holidays would be a dream come true." They are all spayed or neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. If you are interested in meeting Rudy, Lovebug, and Star, you can head to the Northport Cat Rescue Association website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the other kittens and cats.
