Description
NEWTON, MA — The Newton School Committee voted unanimously at their Dec. 6 meeting to grant Superintendent of Schools David Fleishman and other non-aligned employees a raise in 2022.
According to a memo from School Committee Chair Ruth Goldman, the superintendent typically receives the same salary increase as the assistant superintendents and other non-aligned employees.
Ahead of last week's meeting, Goldman recommended that the School Committee approve a salary increase of three percent for Fleishman in 2022, which does not exceed amount included in next year's budget.
The School Committee also approved a three percent increase in salary for non-aligned employees, or those who do not belong to a labor union, beginning on January 1, an amount that was also included in the 2022 budget.
Newton Public Schools' non-aligned employees include assistant superintendents, directors, managers, general counsel, Human Resources generalists, confidential executive assistants, executive assistants, administrative assistants, business and finance analyst and coordinator, and specialists.
