Press release from the County of Dane: December 13, 2021 608-284-6155 The Dane County Sheriff's Office is urging people to stay off the thin ice forming on area waterways. Although ice has been forming on portions of area lakes throughout the week, the conditions are still unsafe for ice fishing and other activities. Area weather forecasts are reporting a significant increase in temperatures this week. Marine and Trail Enforcement Deputies understand people are anxious to get outside and enjoy winter activities, but safety needs to be the top priority. If you do decide to take the gamble, make sure you have the appropriate flotation equipment and you have communicated with a friend or family member on your location.
