Fender Bass Player Seeks Original Music

I'm looking to play original music - no cover bands please.  I'll play almost any genre but my influences all stem from Black American Music (soul, blues, gospel, funk, R&B, etc) I am a self-taught musician and I played in 3 bay area "garage bands" and recorded a few albums, EPs and played a lot of local shows.  I have a decent ear and good time but I am not a professional musician.  My influences are: James Jamerson, Willie Weeks, Duck Dunn, Bootsy, Aston "Family Man" Barrett.  I also love Paul McCartney, Jaco, Pino, Carol Kaye, and many many more. I play a 4-string Fender P bass but in my heart I try to sound, think and play like a tuba or an upright bass.  Low and thumpy, less-is-more, solid foundation. I love drummers who have a strong right foot.  I bring my bass and DI to every gig and I like to play through small and medium amps.  I dont play with effect pedals and I dont slap, but I'm open to learning.  I always try to surround myself with advanced musicians with patience and I can quickly raise my game.
