Description

Multi instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, slide -lap and bottleneck style, banjo); songwriter; Lifetime Roots musicologist I enjoy music from the time before commercialism created genres. interested in putting together a band with NOLA style horns -trombone, clarinet, plunger trumpet, ,one more guitarist (ideally another multi instrumentalist) upright bass or tuba, a good junkman …vocalists, especially someone in the vein of Bonnie Raitt, Maria Muldaur etc (if you know what it means to “be able to walk a guy with your singin”) Proposal: create music that’s fun to play & makes people get up and Do the grind and swing. I have 30+ original tunes that run the gamut from Through composed ragtime to country blues in the tradition of Jimmy Rodgers to funkified instrumentals that could be Mingus, Monk or The Muscle shoals swampers. Originals if you got em, sure! Covers as appropriate to the band sound are great, unusual ideas welcome. Good songs transcend genres. Not looking for a jam band with 7 minute solos but Nothing is really off the table here. I believe in presenting a good time, which entails rehearsal, arrangements and working ears from the players. A basic familiarity with music theory and no fear of unusual keys and demented chords is pretty much required to make communication efficient; Age & personal identification on the gender spectrum, doesn’t matter if you can listen and play. Intriguing?
