NEW HAVEN, CT — A man was hospitalized after a shooting Friday morning in New Haven, according to police. Police responded around 11:40 a.m. on Dec. 10 on the report of a person shot on Harper Avenue, between Valley Street and the dead end. Officers found a 28-year-old New Haven resident who had been struck by gunfire, according to police. The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The New Haven Police Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing. Police ask that any witnesses who have not yet spoken with the police contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203-946-6304. Gun buyback held in New Haven On Dec. 11, the New Haven Police Department, City of New Haven, and Swords to Plowshares Northeast, held a gun buyback at the New Haven Police Department Training Academy. The gun buyback yielded 43 guns which will be rendered inoperable and turned into tools and jewelry, according to police.
