MIDDLETOWN, CT — A man who was wanted on five active arrest warrants was caught breaking into a home in Middletown on Monday morning, according to police.
Police responded to a home on Maynard Street around 9 a.m. on the report of a burglary-in-progress, according to officials. Police determined that a man tried to climb through a child's bedroom window, officials said.
"Officers responded to the scene and a perimeter was set up," police wrote in a post on Facebook. "Officer Carta recognized the description of the suspect as a nearby neighbor. Sgt A. Smith and K-9 Diezel responded to the scene. K-9 Diezel immediately tracked directly to the suspected individual's residence. Officers made contact with the suspect, later identified as Matthew Ryan Bissonnette.
"After a brief on scene investigation, Bissonnette was positively identified by the victim and later confessed to Officer Thompson for the burglary."
Bissonnette also had five active warrants for his arrest, according to police. He was taken into custody, charged, and held in lieu of a $235,000 bond.
