Description
Press release from Albuquerque Public Schools:
December 13, 2021
Families who would like their child to attend an APS school outside their assigned attendance area in 2022-2023 may request a transfer online beginning Jan. 1, 2022.
Requests may also be completed in the Student Service Center on the first floor of the Albuquerque Public Schools administration building, 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE beginning Jan. 3. Upon successfully submitting an online transfer request, families should receive a confirmation number.
Parents will need to know each student's ID number if they are currently an APS student or have ever attended an APS school. If a student does not have an APS ID number, parents will need to create a ParentVUE account or add the additional child to their existing account. Instructions for creating a ParentVUE account can be found on the APS Transfers webpage. Once an ID number has been generated, a transfer request may be submitted. Transfers are granted on a space and program available basis using a random selection process (lottery) and priority system, complying with district, state, and federal requirements.
Transfers are not on a first-come, first-served basis; requests will be processed as received on the same day during each transfer window.
Students who currently have an approved transfer do not need to reapply unless they change schools. However, students transitioning from elementary to middle school or middle school to high school need to apply for a transfer if they want to attend a school outside their assigned area.
