DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Police Athletic League has relieved a coach from his duties after he was arrested on drug-related charges.
Samuel Perkins, a youth basketball coach, was charged in a Danbury Police investigation into drug sales, according to the Danbury News Times.
Farley Santos, president of the Danbury PAL board of directors, and Vince Jackson, executive director of Danbury PAL, made a statement Saturday saying Perkins is no longer a coach for the organization.
"PAL was founded in 1964 with the goal of providing children a safe and healthy alternative to drugs, violence, and crime," the statement said. "PAL will work with the Danbury Police Department regarding this matter. The Board of Directors and appropriate personnel have been notified of this incident and we will continue to provide updates as they become available."
