NEWTOWN, CT — A proposal to build a 27-unit apartment building on property at the intersection of South Main Street and Borough Lane in Newtown is meeting with opposition from some residents, reported the News-Times.
Brookfield-based landscape architect Robert Sherwood is looking to build the complex on the 1.6-acre lot, which would require the demolition of the single-family home currently on the property.
The proposal is currently being considered by the Planning and Zoning Commission, but residents who oppose the plan said during a recent public hearing that it would add more traffic to an already congested area.
Opponents also told the commission that the plan would adversely the single-family character of the neighborhood. Another public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Thursday.
