GLEN BURNIE, MD — The attorney general's office has released body-worn camera footage of a Nov. 28 police shooting that killed Digno Ramon Yorro, Jr., 32. Police responded to a townhouse in the 1400 block of Braden Loop in Glen Burnie at around 1:30 p.m. after a woman called 911 to report that a male family member armed with a knife had chased her from the residence. In the video, released today, officers are seen gaining entry into the residence after knocking several times on the door, to no response. When they entered, they were met by Yorro, who was armed with a knife. Officers could be seen yelling "drop the knife!" at Yorro, and when he did not comply, one officer deployed "several bean-bag shotgun rounds and then his Taser, neither of which was effective," officials from the AG's office's Independent Investigations Division said in a news release. "Yorro then walked towards the officers still armed with the knife, at which time, Cpl. J. Burger discharged his duty weapon, shooting Yorro multiple times," the news release reads. "Yorro was pronounced deceased at the scene." While at the residence, officers discovered a deceased woman who had suffered from trauma, identified as Yorro's mother, in the garage. The Independent Investigations Division, which is tasked with investigating alleged or potential police-involved deaths of civilians, typically releases bodycam footage within two weeks of an incident.
