BROOKFIELD, CT — The town of Brookfield said there should be no cost to the town after a hazardous materials spill at Candlewood Lake Elementary School last week, The News Times reported. The new school construction site is on the Huckleberry Hill School property. A hose burst on a concrete pump truck Friday and 5-15 gallons of hydraulic fluid leaked out, the town said. Students, staff, and neighbors were not at risk. Brookfield Fire Chief Andrew Ellis told the News Times the subcontractor working on the site had put a deposit down for an environmental cleanup company. The News Times reported the town also does not anticipate any construction delays at the school. Read more via the News Times.
