LITTLETON, CO — Starting Jan. 3, students, faculty and staff at Arapahoe Community College will need to show proof of full vaccination or submit to weekly testing in order to remain on campus. ACC President Stephanie Fujii told the Littleton Independent that the new protocol is designed to avoid a potential outbreak among its anticipated 5000 students, which would shut down the college. As of mid-November, 68% of students, and 88% of faculty and staff have shown proof of vaccination, Fujii told The Independent. Students attending courses online will not have to show proof of vaccination or negative testing, but if they will come to one of the college's three campuses. The colleges require proof of a negative test three days before arrival. The college will continue to offer virtual options for students who do not want to be vaccinated or undergo tests, according to The Independent. The school will also keep its campus mask mandate.
