Description

ARVADA, CO — The Arvada City Council unanimously voted Dec. 6 to approve an intergovernmental agreement outlining renovation and operating procedures for the Meyers Pool, the Arvada Press reports. The new pool will be constructed on the same site as the existing swim center. Under the approved agreement, the new pool will be operated by the Apex Parks and Recreation District, owned by the City of Arvada, and used mostly by Jefferson County Public Schools. The city and school district are splitting construction costs (estimated at around $35-36 million) 50-50, Apex Board of Directors President Vicki Pyne shared with the board on Oct. 7. Both entities are financing the payments of $17 million over 20 years, which means that the city and school district can expect to pay around $800,000 a year each. The school district will be entitled to a free lane for high school swim practices in-season. If the school want more lanes, they will pay per lane, according to the Arvada Press.
