Early Morning Shooting In Somers Point Under Investigation

SOMERS POINT, NJ — An early morning shooting at the Somers Point Apartments is under investigation, according to Somers Point Police Chief Robert Somers. On Monday at 12:15 a.m. police received reports that gun shots were fired at the Somers Point Apartment complex at 50 Mays Landing Rd. across from Point Plaza. While responding, officers were told that a white SUV fled the scene at a high rate of speed, Somers said. Police located and stopped the vehicle at Pennsylvania Avenue and New Road. The vehicle was occupied by a 33-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit with non-life threatening injuries, Somers said. As of Monday afternoon, suspects have not been identified.
