Description
WALNUT CREEK, CA — Oscar Aguilar-Campos is charged 11 felonies in connection with a string of arson fires in Walnut Creek, the police department reports.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office filed charges last week.
Aguilar-Campos is in jail with a $1,000,000 bail.
The fires were set in multiple locations on Dec. 2 including three downtown dumpster fires within an hour, fabric set on fire near the Lesher Center for the Arts, four fires inside the Walnut Creek Library, plus multiple additional fires.
At the library, two fires were set in trash cans, one on a chair, and one involving a book. The library had to be evacuated, but no one was hurt.
Witnesses provided police with a description of the man, and Aguilar-Campos was arrested walking downtown a short time later.
Con Fire's arson investigators and WCPD worked together to present the case to the DA's office.
