Press release from BREC: December 10, 2021 On Saturday, December 18th, BREC will host a 75th Birthday Celebration at Independence Community Park. This event will be held at 7500 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806 in front of the theatre building. Comemorating 75 years of exceptional service to East Baton Rouge Parish, everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in a night to remember. The celebration will kickoff, inside the Theatre, with a private VIP cocktail hour hosted by the BREC Foundation at 5pm. VIP and special guests include elected officials, BREC personnel, retirees, partners, sponsors, donors and other community leaders who will enjoy a private screening of BREC's 75th Birthday video. BREC's 75th Birthday Celebration will be open to the public at 6pm followed by a welcome ceremony presented by BREC Superintendent, Corey Wilson at 6:30 p.m. and a special announcement from Mayor Sharon Weston Broome. All residents in the parish, despite age or ability, are invited to experience sparkling holiday lights, sneaux, magicians, face painters, jugglers, and other strolling entertainment. Attendees will recieve official 75th gifts and goodies. Live music throughout the night will be provided by The Micheal Foster Project and free frood from local vendors will be provided to all guests by the BREC Foundation. This celebration will include star gazing activities from BREC facilities including the Highland Road Observatory, animals from the Baton Rouge Zoo and mini ponies from Farr Park Equestrian Center. Complete a celebratory 75th art project with BREC Art. Enjoy interactive activities and exhibits from P& E, Extreme Sports, Outdoor Adventure, Golf, Brec on the Geaux, and more. The 75th Birthday Celebration will end with a bang as BREC and Coca-Cola, give a spactacular thanks to all of East Baton Rouge Parish for their continued support with a fireworks finale!
