Description
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — Shake Shack, the fast casual burger chain with origins in New York City, is approved to open the first drive-thru location in New Jersey.
First reported by TapInto, the Hasbrouck Heights Planning Board approved the company for a location on Route 17 South. Of the chain's 12 locations in New Jersey, this will be the first with a drive-thru.
According to TapInto, the company will look to demolish the defunct Mt.Fuji which currently occupies the space, building a 2,100 square-foot restaurant with two drive-thru lanes. Those lanes should be able to fit 26 cars.
There will not be space to sit inside, but patrons can place and pickup orders in the building.
Of the 12 Shake Shack locations in New Jersey, two of them are in Paramus, with another in nearby Wayne Township.
Industry publication Restaurant Dive reported earlier this month that Shake Shack will be opening 10 drive-thru locations across the country in 2022, along with 45 to 50 new stores in what's being called the company's largest expansion to date.
An opening date for the new Hasbrouck Heights location hasn't been announced.
