SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Power outages amid a powerful storm left more than 13,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers without electrical service Tuesday.
According to SDG&E's outage map, affected communities include Carlsbad, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, La Jolla, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego and San Marcos.
The utility estimates that power will be restored to all the affected neighborhoods by early evening. The causes of the outages are under investigation.
The storm is expected to bring widespread rain, mountain snow and gusty winds to San Diego County.

A wind advisory is in effect until midnight Tuesday for the county's coastal areas and valleys, where 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 35 to 45 mph are expected, according to the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, a high wind warning is in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday for the county's deserts and mountains, where 25 to 35 mph winds with gusts up to 60 to 70 mph are expected.
"Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines," forecasters warned. "Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles."
A flood watch is also in effect for the county's coastal areas, mountains and valleys through Tuesday evening.
