Description
Press release from the City of Hoboken: Dec. 13, 2021 Starting in 2022, members of the public will be able to attend City Council meetings in person or virtually via Zoom, allowing for greater public participation in meetings. To attend a Council meeting in person, members of the public must socially distance and have their temperature checked. The public can enter City Hall through the main entrance at 94 Washington St. beginning at 6:40 p.m. Public Council meetings will begin at 7 p.m. Room occupancy in the Chambers will be limited to 25 members of the public to allow for adequate physical distances as an enhanced precaution against COVID-19. Attendees can enter on a first-come, first-served basis and MUST wear a mask during their entire time in City Hall. All members of the public who wish to speak during the Council meeting will be able to do so, regardless of whether they are present in Chambers or participating by Zoom. Council meetings will continue to be broadcast and streamed live on the City's Facebook page, YouTube channel, and via Zoom, as listed on the agenda. To attend a meeting virtually, community members must follow the instructions for virtual meetings included at the beginning of the Council meeting's bi-monthly agenda found at http://hobokennj.iqm2.com/Citizens/Default.aspx or contact the City Clerk's Office at (201) 420-2230. Many discussions have been taking place over the past several months between members of the Administration, City Clerk's Office, Building Security, and more recently with Councilman Michael Russo to discuss how to increase participation while ensuring the safety of City staff, Councilmembers, and the public in attendance. The City intends to offer the Council the ability to have a hybrid meeting by Jan. 5, 2022. The City will continue to monitor the ongoing pandemic and will offer hybrid Council meetings if and until in-person meetings are deemed a hazard to public health, at which time, meetings will occur virtually.
