Brown University Requires COVID-19 Boosters For Students, Staff

PROVIDENCE, RI — Brown University took a big step in COVID-19 prevention, announcing that all students, staff and faculty will be required to get a vaccine booster before the start of the spring semester. The university said booster shots "are essential for individual and community health." The requirement includes everyone on campus, including faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, visiting researchers, lecturers and seasonal and intermittent staff. Booster shots must be received by Jan. 26, the first day of class, for those who are eligible. Anyone who isn't yet eligible will be required to get a booster within 30 days of becoming eligible. COVID-19 booster shots are available six months after receiving the second Pfizer or Moderna vaccine dose, or two months after the single-dose Johnson and Johnson shot.
