Description
CONCORD, NH — Several Concord police officers got their exercise in on Monday searching paths and parks in the western part of the city attempting to find a man crying for help.
Just after 1:30 p.m., dispatch received a call from a hiker who reported hearing what sounded like a man in the woods along the Swope-Winant connector path. The hiker said, about a half mile to three-quarters of a mile in, she heard a man saying, "Help, help," repeatedly. The woman described the voice to be one of a middle-aged or older man.
The hiker left the path to find a cellphone signal to call police.
Officers immediately went to Marjory Swope Park and Winant Park as well as the trailhead of the connector path in between the parks to search the area. While doing so, dispatch attempted to reach the initial caller, in an effort to determine exactly which trail she was on. Police also considered calling firefighters and EMTs but decided to wait and see if they could find the man first.
For about two hours, police crisscrossed the area searching for the man — along the connector and its different routes, around Long Pond and Fisk roads, including areas between Condolyn Farm and Swope Park.
Concord NH Patch will update this post when more information becomes available.
