We are currently seeking individuals with a passion for working with the aging population, who like to work in a positive environment and want to grow within an organization. Chandler Hall, a non-profit, Quaker facility, and Kendal affiliate, provides high-quality care for older adults in Newtown, Bucks County and offers a wide spectrum of services for individuals at all stages of the aging process including Community Living, Personal Care, Residential Hospice, Home Hospice, Independent Living, Respite Care, and Skilled Nursing Care. We are currently seeking Cooks to provide high quality meals in nutrition, taste, temperature and presentation for our residents and community of Chandler Hall, as well as always maintaining safe food practices and sanitation. This is a full-time role, working Monday through Friday, day shift, and every other weekend. You are responsible for working as a team member, assisting co-workers and managers in the pursuit of service excellence, and following both organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. Job Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assures that quality nutritional services are consistently provided on a daily basis- meals are properly prepared and portioned according to production sheets and diet extensions and assures appropriate use of leftovers. 2. Monitors accurate receiving, storage, and stocking of all food items. 3. Replaces cooks as needed. 4. Ensures the proper handling / safety and storage procedure for food are followed. 5. Prepares daily prep assignments. 6. Restocks area kitchens with needed supplies. 7. Adheres to proper labeling, dating and storage of foods protocols. 8. Has general knowledge of the set-up and procedures for the operation of the cafeteria and cash register. 9. Maintains appropriate documentation of temperature charts for all kitchens according to established protocols. Adheres to daily cleaning assignments for kitchens and kitchen equipment. 10. Has advanced knowledge of therapeutic diets. 11. Provides food for special events and private banquets. 12. Develops and maintain a puree program for Chandler Hall. 13. Communicates information with staff on a regular basis. 14. Helps to develops new menu / recipes in respect nutritional content, cost, production time and ability to modify. 15. Maintains proper personal appearance and hygiene. Adheres to attendance, break, dress code and smoking policies. Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as maybe directed. Education, Experience and Competencies High School Diploma and/or Culinary Degree Serve Safe certified General knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel. Experienced knowledge of cooking, kitchen equipment and sanitation, able to perform all aspects of preparation, cooking and serving of meals. Can read and write English. WHY JOIN CHANDLER HALL?
