GLENDORA, CA — City officials are warning residents that phone scammers have been calling Glendora residents and threatening to shut off their water service. The scammers claim the service will shut off because of overdue water payments. Several residents have been targeted in the scam already, officials said. "The City of Glendora does not contact customers by phone to advise their water is being shut off," officials said on social media. If a customer has an overdue bill, they will receive a letter in the mail and have a tag placed on their door notifying them of an impending shutoff, officials said. Shutting off a person's water service is currently prohibited under California's emergency declaration to the pandemic. Anyone with questions about their water bill or service can contact the city's Water Billing Division at 626-914-8239.
