WESTLAKE, OH — In the span of less than seven days, two neighboring Westlake gas stations were broken into and burgled. The first burglary happened Nov. 30 and the second on Dec. 4. In both cases, someone smashed a glass door to get into the station, walked through the wreckage and stole cash and cigarettes from inside. The Nov. 30 burglary happened at the BP Gas Station at Bradley and Detroit. The thief smashed the door at approximately 3:30 a.m. He grabbed what he could and got away before police arrived. The Dec. 4 burglary happened at a Speedway Gas Station across from the BP. The thief smashed the glass door at 2:45 a.m. and dashed in and out. Police arrived within minutes of the alarm being triggered but the thief was already gone, police said. Surveillance footage of the Dec. 4 break-in showed one man smashing the door, running in and grabbing cash and cigarettes. Police have collected evidence from the smash-and-grab and believe the burglary is connected to the Nov. 30 crime. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect in both crimes and they are above this article. If you knows the suspect or have information on the crimes, contact the Westlake police at their non-emergency phone at 440-871-3311. You may remain anonymous.
