TEMPE, AZ — Tempe High School students were released early Tuesday, while Tempe Police investigated a threat of violence at the school made via social media, according to a news release from Tempe Police.
"The school and all students are safe," Tempe Police said in the tweet. "We are just taking precautions."
A student reported a social media post that contain a "concerning image" to a school resource office around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Tempe Police and school staff worked together to investigate the post.
Police remained on campus while students were released early, with police providing secure exits for students and teachers.
"The incident seems to be isolated," police said in the news release.
Tempe Police are working with the school and the district to take precautions to ensure student safety, police said. Tempe Police promised to work with the school district to ensure the person responsible for the post is held accountable for the disruption.
