Description
WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Red Sox will begin a seasonal tradition on Wednesday: the "WooSox Foundation Holiday Caravan" will travel with players and other special guests around the region to bring gifts to local charities and nonprofits.
The caravan begins on Wednesday with a meal service at St. John's Food for the Poor in Worcester. Later on Wednesday and during the week, the caravan will visit Abby's House and Why Me & Sherry's House, the Worcester Public Library and UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center.
The caravan will also move outside Worcester, bringing care packages made by Marlborough's Kits for Kids to foster families in Framingham. The caravan will then visit the Spanish American Center in Leominster, the Our Bright Future's after-school program in Webster and the McAuley Nazareth Home for Boys in Leicester.
Leading the caravan will be Boston Red Sox draftee and WooSox first baseman Josh Ockimey, hitting coach Rich Gedman, and the team mascots Smiley Ball and Woofster the WonderDog. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will also make appearances.
