We are conducting a research study of new device technology vagal nerve stimulation (non-painful electric pulses applied to the neck) may or may not change pain perception, and inflammation as well as distress.
To participate in the study:
● MALE between ages 21-65 years
● Veteran with combat exposure
● Served during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) OR Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)
● Currently a non-smoker
Participation in the study includes:
● 3 study visits
● MRI scan of your brain, questionnaires, and interviews, and blood draw
● Non-invasive vagal nerve stimulation will be applied once to your neck during each visit, and you will be asked to self-administer the stimulation for a week at home, twice per day for 2 minutes
● Study compensation up to $225
