Description

The Warehouse Assistant will support the daily functions of the Philadelphia Furniture Bank warehouse. They will work with the Assistant Director to coordinate the movement of incoming and outgoing inventory. The Warehouse Assistant will maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the warehouse, including the common areas, repair shop, and storage. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Keep showroom floor stocked and welcoming; keep furniture storage area efficiently organized -Assist with incoming inventory: receive and store incoming donations -Assist with outgoing inventory: stage furniture for delivery and check orders for accuracy -Inventory warehouse supplies; report supplies needs -Stock storage areas and common areas with cleaning products/paper products -Assist in scheduling the cleaning of common spaces -Maintain and organize equipment, including moving equipment, upholstery cleaner, and power washer -Make furniture repairs as needed; keep repair shop organized and maintain/track warehouse tools and hardware -Keep docks and aisles clear, clean and orderly -Assist with deliveries/pickups when needed -Other tasks as deemed necessary Essential Education, Experience and Skills: -Ability to move large and small furniture items -Ability to use furniture moving equipment, hand tools for furniture repairs and dock lifts/ gates -Keen ability to assess safety risks -Must be organized and be able to organize inventory and repair shop -Assess and use systems created for smooth flow of inventory -Ability to handle paperwork for tracking incoming and outgoing inventory -Ability to deal with stressful situations in fast moving environment -Ability to collaborate with supervisors -Willingness and ability to interact positively and appropriately with very diverse populations -Good interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team. -Ability to drive a 16' or longer box truck when needed -Valid Pennsylvania State Driver's license and clean driving record -Physical Demands and Work Environment -Frequently does indoor work in moving furniture -Constantly reaches outward while handling furniture -Occasionally reaches above shoulder -Frequently pushes and pulls 41-100 pounds multiple times per day while handling furniture -Frequently stands, travels and walks while handling furniture -Occasionally sits, climbs, squats, kneels, bends, and handles and grips while performing duties
