We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Associate who will work with our American Building Services team in Chicago, Illinois. We offer local service with a national presence. Summary Warehouse Associates helps ensure that the warehouse runs smoothly and efficiently. Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Warehouse/Operations Manager. The goal is to increase efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Essential Functions: Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship) Pull inventory for shipments Help with ensuring correct material is pulled and loaded on our truck for delivery Recording selected merchandise in accordance with standard operating procedures Ensuring correct and complete labels are attached to all orders processed Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers Operate and preventively maintain warehouse equipment Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations Working in accordance with all warehouse safety regulations Load finished product onto truck Navigate equipment through a warehouse to collect customer orders Follow all applicable safety regulations and processes as associated with driving, vehicle check, material handling and customer site specifics Interact with customers and the public in a professional and positive manner Use technology to help manage the logistics process Other relative duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience Current and valid US driver’s license Forklift certification preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic computer skills Knowledge of architectural door materials and hardware Good communication skills Ability to accurately do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete forms Ability to work closely and cordially with other staff associates Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test Physical Demands: Must be able to stand and walk for much of the day. Ability to lift 5-25 pounds frequently and ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work Environment: Conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
