This training session will provide participants with an overall understanding of legislative hurdles that were overcome to have legal adult-use sale of cannabis in Massachusetts. Additionally, we will examine and explore the state’s emphasis on social justice and equity within the industry and the law. (90 minutes)Session 2 | 12:30pm - 3:15pm - Corporate Structure including control, tax implications and filing requirements: April Arrasate, Nick Richards, Esq., Beth Jacobsen, CPA This training session will explain the different types of ownership structures from C-Corp, S-Corp, LLC, and LLP that a potential owner can choose from when initially setting up their company, the tax implications will be briefly explained and its impact to the company’s bottom line. (120 minutes)Session 3 | 3:15pm - 4:30pm - Cannabis License Types: April Arrasate, Lisa Marien, Dan Glissman, Esq. This training session will explain the various license types available and how your status determines what license types get pursued. (60 minutes, Speaker TBA)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Day 2: Wednesday January 19, 2022 | 9:00am - 4:30pm 9:00am - Registration 9:30am - Welcome, April Arrasate, CEO, SEED / City of Boston Representative, TBA Session 4 | 9:30am - 12:30pm - Financial requirements including capital requirements, banking and capital considerations: Peri Higgins This training session will discuss the importance of raising capital to finance the project, the different ways in which one can raise the capital for the investment and being good stewards of that investment. (120 minutes)Session 5 | 12:30pm - 2:30pm - Real Estate procurement and documentation: RJ Panzo, Peter Gori, Tomas Gonzalez This training session will examine the steps required to obtain site control of a property, the various lease options, and the struggles inherit in this process. (90 minutes)Session 6 | 2:30pm - 4:30pm - Boston Licensing and HCAs including the Boston Cannabis Board, Community Meetings and ZBA process: Tomas Gonzalez, Lesley Delaney Hawkins, Esq., Derric Small, Esq., Dan Glissman, Esq This training session will provide an overview of each of these processes, how they are intertwined, the community outreach process and a roadmap for avoiding certain pitfalls. (150 minutes)Lunch Break | 12:00pm - 1:00pm Session 8 starts at 1:00pmSession 8 | 1:00pm - 3:00pm - State Licensing process: CCC Commissioner Ava Callender Concepcion, Peri Higgins, Dan Glissman, Esq.
