Description

An Evening Concert: Abendmusik! Carrying on the Advent tradition of 17th century Lubeck’s free, one-hour “evening music” concerts, Advent Lutheran Church of Zionsville will host its own baroque period-instrument concert, "Abendmusik: Come, Savior of Mankind" , Wednesday, December 22, 7-8 PM. A line from a 1697 guidebook to the German city of Lubeck reads: Of particular note is the great Abendmusiken (evening music) at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, consisting of pleasant vocal and instrumental music presented during the Advent season, free to the public, led by the world-famous Dietrich Buxtehude. This happens nowhere else. Joining that evening’s period-instrument ensemble Alchymy Viols will be Chicago’s highly acclaimed baroque soprano Kaitlin Foley. She has “emerged as one of the truly great musicians of this city” (Vocal Arts Chicago), performing with “vocal gleam and fiery dramatic involvement” (Chicago Classical Review). Together they will perform music of Pachelbel, Biber, Charpentier, Boeddecker and Buxtehude. Introduced at the concert will be Indiana soprano Natalie Grady. The concert is free to the public and will be held in Advent Lutheran’s beautiful sanctuary located at 11250 N. Michigan Road, Zionsville, at the top of Interstate 465, two miles north off Exit 27. Abundant free parking is available. For more information call Advent Lutheran Church, 317-873-6318 or text Alchymy Viols director Philip Spray at 317-430-9142.
