I was talking through my recent breakup with a friend at Clandestino, when I was suddenly overcome with an intense craving for the Garidomakaronada Plate (spaghetti with shrimp) from Kikis. Too tipsy to properly orient myself without the aid of an iPhone, a quick glance at apple maps revealed we were just a few blocks away!!! We hurried over and snagged a seat at a communal table. The menu offers a cream sauce and a spicy tomato sauce option; both of which I had sampled during prior Kikis visits. Our server informed us that there was in fact a third option not listed.... the cream sauce spicy sauce combo. The choice was clear. It shifted something within me and mid third bite the faux I don't give a fuck foolery I'd maintained all night came crashing down and I was bawling everywhere and embarrassing myself. What are you putting in that sauce???
Anyways, thank you to that server for the sauce suggestion. I'm sure you give it to everyone who orders that pasta, but it really made my night and led to the cathartic release that I needed. Also sorry to the other people at the communal table, I hope I didn't disturb your dinner, maybe watching a girl snivel into her plate made for exciting Thursday evening conversation.
