Description

Join us for an afternoon of learning and exploration through the art of collage! In this workshop, participants will learn about the history of collage and collage artists. They will then make at least four collage pieces, including one 3-D collage and one advocacy postcard that will be flown on a rocket to space (with Blue Planet) and then returned to an address of the girl’s choice. Not a Girl Scout? Not a girl? No problem! While this workshop allows the participants to fulfill the requirements of the Girl Scouts collage badge, anyone between the ages of 10 -17 is encouraged to attend! This is an indoor workshop, masks are required. About the Artist: Karen Miller is an engineer and artist who works primarily with reuse materials in collage, assemblage and mosaic. She is also a long-time scout leader. Combining her love of working with scouts and reuse materials, Karen has developed several arts and crafts workshops for young people that focus on safely learning how to use specific tools while reusing cool materials to create masterpieces. Our mission is to promote conservation and reuse in our community through creativity, education and community building.  One of our core values is that Communities are powerful : It’s more fun to play together and collaborate with the experts in our area to conserve vital resources.
