In this discussion, we will explore the technology behind cryptocurrency - blockchain - and its global implications. We will also seek to understand the value of cryptocurrency, its real-world applications, and why it's so polarizing. Eventbrite registration required. _______________________ More about the speaker: Jon West is the principal of Vercey Consulting and serves clients as a Cryptocurrency/Blockchain Consultant. He has 30+ years of software product development experience. Most of his career has been focused on creating cloud-based SaaS products used globally by accountants and lawyers within professional firms and large corporates. He spent two years leading Crypto/Blockchain R&D for Thomson Reuters. He currently consults for corporates and software vendors of any size to help them understand and apply blockchain and cryptocurrency. He also advises startups and he has a startup of his own. Jon is a founding board member and advisor for the Texas Blockchain Council. He co-chairs Dallas Blockchain meetup, which is the most prominent blockchain meetup in Dallas. He served as a founder and tri-chair for the Tech Titans Blockchain Forum. He chaired the Taxation Committee for the Accounting Blockchain Association. He has also served with Business Navigators and on the Blockchain Committee for Dallas Startup Week.
