Participants will gain appreciation and confidence for the Hospital Incident Command, and/or the Public Information Officer function These courses are designed to build and enhance skill sets. Participants will gain greater understanding of HICS incident management concepts and/or the PIO role and responsibility in a practical application-based format. The course will include a brief review of the topics and then move into more detailed position specific work. When possible, participants will be presented with practice scenarios based upon their Hazard Vulnerability Analysis to help them gain practical incident management skills for high probability events. Schedule 8:30am-12:30pm - HICS 12:30 - 1:30 - Lunch provided 1:30pm - 4:30pm - PIO * Not all participants will stay for the afternoon PIO training and are free to leave after the morning session (and lunch) if PIO training does not apply to them. The PIO training session is very specific to that Position within the HICS. This course will be instructed by Jan Glarum from abetteremergency.com Mr. Glarum has thirty years of experience in emergency medical services, law enforcement, fire service, emergency management and in consulting domestically and internationally for civilian and military clients.
