MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead residents now have a rare opportunity to live in one of the town's most historic homes. The town is accepting applications for two apartments in the town-owned Pickett House on Franklin Street. The house was gifted to the town in 1852 as part of Moses A. Pickett's last will and testament and with the town essentially acting as its landlord. The is one apartment on each floor with each having one bedroom and one bathroom. Each apartment has a large kitchen/dining area, newer appliances, granite counters and a renovated bathroom. The second floor apartment has a carpeted bedroom and a hardwood floor in the living room. The first floor apartment has a carpeted bedroom and living room. There is a shared backyard. Restrictions outlined in Pickett's will apply, including that the tenants pay a "moderate rent" and they are "being natives of said Town of Marblehead." Residents wishing to apply should send a letter of interest and an application to the Marblehead Board of Selectmen, Abbot Hall, 188 Washington Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.
