Description
STAMFORD, CT — High Ridge Road will be closed in both directions beginning Dec. 14 just south of Upper Shad Road in New York to facilitate an emergency culvert repair in Pound Ridge, N.Y., according to the city of Stamford and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).
The closure and associated detour is expected to last four weeks, depending on the weather.
As a result of the closure, all inbound and outbound Stamford traffic from New York State on High Ridge Road will be detoured around the work site onto local roads. The detour route will direct traffic onto Trinity Pass through Scotts Corners and Westchester Avenue.
Drivers should seek alternate routes and plan for extra travel time when driving between Stamford and New York.
In an announcement, the city said the detour route is subject to change based on developing traffic conditions. Stamford bound commercial traffic will have an alternate route to alleviate possible congestion issues.
"City staff have been in constant communication with the NYSDOT project team to address our concerns about how this will impact traffic in Stamford, and we will be working closely with the project team to monitor the traffic conditions on Stamford's roads and address any issues that may arise," said Interim Bureau Chief of Transportation, Traffic and Parking Frank Petise, in a news release.
