HERNDON, VA — Town of Herndon Police are asking the public's help in locating a man they say fled from their custody Sunday morning in a stolen vehicle, according to posts on the department's official Twitter account.
At 9:21 a.m. on Sunday, a man entered a business in the 700 block of Grant St. in Herndon. The man implied that he had a gun and demanded money, according to police. Employees of the business were able to detain the man until officers arrived on the scene.
After handcuffing the man, the officers were putting him into a police cruiser when he broke free. The man then drove away in a gold Honda Pilot that had been reported stolen on Nov. 11 from Niklaus Court.

Police released photos of the suspect on social media and of the vehicle, a Honda Pilot with Virginia tags UBB-2337.
