SILVER SPRING, MD — A retiree who walked into a Takoma Park 7-Eleven left $100,000 richer, after buying a winning $4 quick-pick Powerball ticket. The Silver Spring resident bought it on Dec. 3, and realized she had won a few days after the Dec. 4 drawing. She told Maryland Lottery that she was out and about for the day and decided to check her ticket at a store. The prize was $50,000, but because she added the Power Play option her payout was $100,000. "I scanned the ticket at a store and, when I saw the amount, I was in disbelief," said the unnamed winner, according to Maryland Lottery. "I wanted to scream, but I just kept it inside." She checked with the store clerk who confirmed that she was a winner and handed the ticket back "with a big smile." The woman, who used to work as a health care professional, said she's going to use some of the money to buy a car.
